Short Film Pitch

Drop It! is a stop-motion short film pitch following a rowdy-but-rugged little girl, Albina, and her trigger-happy ex-hunting dog through a lawless nuclear wasteland. There are no grown-ups around to tell them what to do, which means there's no one around to tell them to not play with grenades.

When I was designing Albina, I made her in the image of weird girls everywhere who, for better or for worse, have a fuse as short as their attention span. I knew she had to have a pup, so I did some digging on the gentlest of giants, the Irish Wolfhound, to balance her out.

Landscapes

Underwater Covenstead
I wanted to create an underwater environment that felt unique in geological location, so I avoided deep seas and ocean floors in favor of Caribbean cave pools to drive a more small-scale (but still mystical), atmosphere.

Canyon Wastes
To build a visual history of the human inhabitation of this environment, I drew inspiration from the conceptual "Long-Term Nuclear Waste Warnings", time and language transcendent structures meant to deter human beings from danger. I wanted to tell the story of the deconstructed buildings and machinery being reused by the doomed faculty for these warning signs.

Storm Slums
For this project,
I knew my goal was to build an environment that was representative of storytelling elements that can only be shown visually.
I wanted to illustrate a reflection of not only a people and their culture, but the environmental setbacks they faced and the adaptations made to overcome them.
